Happy Birthday Cole Porter (June 9, 1891)

Cole Porter wrote Night and Day for the last of Fred Astaire's stage shows, Gay Divorce (1932). This play was later remade into the movie The Gay Divorcee (1934). This is early Fred and Ginger, only their second movie together, and the Night and Day number is one of the most elegant and emotionally sparking of their work together. I give much credit to the song, which has always been a favorite of mine. Words and music by Cole Porter.

The way this ends always brings tears to my eyes.

For some reason, videos that I post on my blog are touchy, and I have to refresh the page--sometimes once, sometimes twice--to get the video to show. Please try again if you would like to see!
